Candle Care 101

It’s important to know the basics of candle care, not only for safety, but so that you can also get the most out of your candles. Here are the important rules to follow….

  • Trimming the wick to 1/4” before each time you light it will ensure that your candle burns safely and slowly. This will minimize mushrooming (those big black balls you see on the top of wicks) and soot (ew no thanks) from shooting into the air.

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended. If you are going to be leaving the house, it’s always a good idea to check to make sure you don’t have a candle burning.

  • Don’t burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.

  • Refrain from touching the glass jar while the candle is burning.

  • Discontinue use when only 1/4” of wax remains.

  • Keep candles out of reach of pets and small children.
